ACCUPLACER Test for CSU
ACCUPLACER includes the tests Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics; Reading; and WritePlacer (a written essay). These tests are used for course placement or admission to CSU. If used for admission, scores will determine if the applicant can be admitted and will determine course placement. Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics; and Reading are computer-adaptive, which means that questions adjust to the ability of the test taker, and are untimed. WritePlacer is timed for one hour.
After you complete the test, your scores will be reported to the Office of Admissions and a decision will be made within 48 hours. The decision will be posted to your online application.
Eligibility: ACCUPLACER can be required or recommended. If required, it must be listed on your checklist before you can schedule an appointment to test.
Retesting: One retest is permitted. You will be advised about retesting by your Admissions Specialist.
Test preparation: Please visit the ACCUPLACER web page to prepare for the test.
Score reports: You will be able to obtain a copy of your scores from the Student Portal on the ACCUPLACER web page.
Payment: $30, regardless of the specific ACCUPLACER tests you need. Payment is made online when you schedule your appointment.
ID requirements: You must present an unexpired government-issued photo ID with signature--driver's license, passport, military ID, state ID. The first and last name(s) on your identification must exactly match the first and last name(s) on your CSU application.
Testing Options (Choose Carefully)
You must apply for admission to CSU and have a CSU ID number issued before you can schedule an appointment (option 1) or register for at-home testing (option 2).
You can obtain your CSU ID number from the office of Admissions by contacting Admissions at 706-507-8800 or enroll@columbusstate.edu.
1. In-person testing at the CSU Testing Center. Schedule Your Appointment for in-person testing at the CSU Testing Center.
2. At home and proctored by Examity, an online proctor service. Examity will charge you a fee for your testing appointment, and appointments are offered 24/7/365.
Note: Before you choose option 2, make sure your device meets Examity's Technical Requirements. If it does, then register and pay for the test to be taken at home via Examity. A remote testing voucher with instructions on scheduling with Examity will be emailed to you within 3 business days after your registration and payment are received.
ACCUPLACER for Employment in Law Enforcement
We administer ACCUPLACER to individuals applying for jobs in corrections, police departments, fire departments, etc. The tests given are reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Scores: You can obtain your score report from the Student Portal on the ACCUPLACER web page.
Test preparation: Please visit the ACCUPLACER web page to prepare for the test.
Payment: $45. Payment is made online when you schedule your testing option.

ACCUPLACER for Other Schools
If you are required by another school to take ACCUPLACER, you can test remotely at CSU. You must have your school register you to take the test remotely at CSU. Once your school registers you, you will receive a VOUCHER that you must bring with you to your appointment. Follow the instructions in the voucher for scheduling an appointment to take the test.
Payment: $50. Payment is made online when you schedule your appointment.

Other items needed for the test: You must bring your Voucher number provided to you by the school to which you are applying.

ACCUPLACER for Math Placement
The Math Placement test is for students who have been placed into a math course based on their ACT/SAT scores, and which is below the level needed for their major. It is also for transfer students who need a math course.
The test given is Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics and is untimed, computer-adaptive, and consists of 20 questions. Students who attain a certain score will then be presented with the Advanced Algebra and Functions test, which is also untimed, computer-adaptive, and consists of 20 questions.
You may wish to take the Math Placement exam if one or more of the following conditions apply:
- your current math course is MATH 1001, 1101, or 1111 but you need a higher level math course for your major;
- you do not feel that the score you earned on the mathematics portion of the SAT or ACT is indicative of your true mathematical ability; or
- you wish to enroll in MATH 1131: Calculus with Analytic Geometry 1; or
- you have transferred in 30 or more credit hours and need to take a math course.
Students who have been placed into MATH 0997 B/C or MATH 0999 B/C are not permitted to take this test.
Retesting: Not permitted. You will be advised about how to appeal your placement after testing.
Test preparation: Please visit the ACCUPLACER web page to prepare for the test. The math placement test consists of Quantitative Reasoning, Analysis, and Statistics. If you attain a certain score on this test, you will then be presented with Advanced Algebra and Functions.
