LATN 1001. Elementary Latin 1 (3-0-3) Introduction to the Latin language: pronunciation, fundamentals of grammar, reading, and translation.
LATN 1002. Elementary Latin 2 (3-0-3) Prerequisite: LATN 1001. Continued study of Latin grammar and syntax begun in LATN 1001, with further reading and translation.
LATN 2001. Intermediate Latin 1 (3-0-3) Prerequisite: LATN 1002. Students will review grammatical structure; practice composition; increase their knowledge of vocabulary; translate and analyze selected works of classical thinkers; and study the influences of the Latin language and Roman accomplishments on western culture.
LATN 2002. Intermediate Latin 2 (3-0-3) Prerequisite: LATN 2001. Students will read, translate, and analyze major works of Latin literature--both prose and poetry--from the classical period. They will also read selections from later Latin and increase their knowledge of the linguistic, intellectual, and cultural influences of Rome on the modern world.
