Quality Enhancement Plan
About Columbus State University
In 2007, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) approved Columbus State University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Writing the Solution: Steps Toward Developing Competent and Professional Student Writers,” as part of its successful reaffirmation of accreditation. CSU identified undergraduate writing skills as the focus of its QEP only after a deliberate, introspective, open and transparent campus-wide process of assessing its students’ critical learning needs.
"Writing the Solution" represents a carefully designed and focused course of action that will enhance student learning across the CSU campus. Its goal is to ensure that students at CSU will be able to write effectively, both in their general education classes and in the upper-division classes within their majors. In keeping with its emphasis on quality undergraduate education, the university has committed major resources to programs supporting the faculty development necessary for the writing initiative’s success.
