RGTE 0198. Regents' Test Remediation: Reading (2-0-(2)) The Regents' Reading Skills course is intended to ensure that all graduates of USG institutions possess certain minimum skills in reading comprehension. Students work on improving their comprehension of material drawn from a variety of subject areas (social science, natural science and humanities) with various modes of discourse (exposition, narration and argumentation). Critical thinking and the following four major aspects of reading are emphasized: vocabulary in context, inferential and literal comprehension, and analysis. (S/U grading.)
RGTE 0199. Regents' Test Remediation: Essay (2-0-(2)) Intensive instruction and practice in writing impromptu essays, aimed at preparing students who have failed the writing component of the Regents' Test to retake the test at the end of the semester in which the course was taken. Students who have completed more than 45 semester hours must complete this course before retaking the Regents' Test. Non-degree credit. (S/U grading.)
