Bachelor of Business Administration

Program Description

The Management Information Systems major prepares students for careers in MIS, with varying titles such as project manager, systems analyst and database administrator. MIS is not a computer programming degree, although students may opt to take some programming as electives. MIS focuses instead on the design, deployment and administration of information systems. Computers and information systems are the infrastructure of the business enterprise and transform the way local and global business is conducted. Most organizations cannot function or compete effectively without computer-based information systems. Those with the best information systems enjoy a significant competitive advantage.

Learning Outcomes

All students receiving a BBA degree from the Abbott Turner College of Business should be prepared to demonstrate:

  • An understanding of global and diversity issues
  • Proficiency in communication.
  • Proficiency in information technology.

Students completing the MIS program should be prepared to demonstrate a working knowledge of:

  • Database systems
  • Information systems design and analysis
  • Data management
  • IS project management
  • Data communications

All students must earn C or better in AREA F, C average in AREA G, C or better in Finance courses.
