Scope and Content

Magazine articles dealing with railroads and photographs of Columbus High School graduating class, 1899; postcards (3) probably of the 5th Avenue fire of 1912 in Columbus, Georgia and of the Pine Mountain Valley Project (10). Much of the material concerns the Magruder family, especially Robert Lee Magruder, Sr. (1856-1919), a conductor with the Central of Georgia. Items include: The Right Way Magazine, issued monthly by the Central of Georgia Railway, vol. 13, no 4, April 1923 The Right Way Magazine, issued monthly by the Central of Georgia Railway, vol. 20, no 1, January 1930 which contains an obituary for Rober Lee Magruder, Sr. Railway Conductor, vol. 35, no. 6, June 1918 Portrait photograph of Robert Lee Magruder, Jr., age approximately 5 Three photo-post cards of the aftermath of a fire, probably the 1912 fire on 5th Avenue in Columbus, Georgia Ten photo-post cards associated with the Pine Mt. Valley Rural Community experiment by Roosevelt. One is of the Rock Tavern in Pine Mountain State Park Columbus High School graduation class group photograph, with Florence Magruder identified. A note on the back indicates that all the people are identified in Clason Kyle's Images, page 117. Two-cent franked envelope with return address of Perkins Hosiery Mills, Columbus, Georgia
