The Vocal Arts Area of the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University has, as part of its development of young vocal talent, a comprehensive program of training and practical experience that prepares students for success on the Lyric Stage. Vocal students have the benefit of nationally recognized faculty, world-class facilities, and the individual attention required for each student to recognize and obtain their full potential as a musician. Undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to perform in full opera productions, chamber operas, scenes, and concert events across our community. Schwob Opera Orchestra collaborates with our ensemble as part of our mainstage productions in Bill Heard Theatre.
Schwob Opera Theatre regularly performs productions of opera, operetta, and musical theater to provide a culminating experience for our young artists and an exciting musical offering for our audiences. Recent productions include The Light in the Piazza (Guettel), Cendrillon (Viardot), Speed Dating Tonight! (Ching), La Finta Giardiniera (Mozart), L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti), Amahl and the Night Visitors (Menotti), Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and many more!
