Biography
Mrs. Shelby Barson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in 2016 and her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Purdue University Global in 2022. Mrs. Barson also obtained her Critical Care Nursing Certification in 2018. Her background includes various critical care settings including cardiac, trauma, and COVID-19 focused intensive care. After practicing as an adjunct clinical instructor for several years, she joined the faculty of Columbus State University's undergraduate BSN nursing program full-time in the spring of 2023. Her professional memberships include the American Association of Critical Care Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau, and she has had the exceptional honor of being a Daisy Award recipient. Mrs. Barson is passionate in her continued research regarding decreasing the likelihood of mortality from amniotic fluid embolism in inpatient obstetric populations.
