Biography
Dr. Rania Hodhod is a Professor at TSYS School of Computer Science, Columbus State University. Dr. Hodhod teaches and supervises undergraduate and graduate students. Her research interests span a range of areas, such as artificial intelligence, expert systems, serious games, interactive narrative, and computational creativity. Dr. Hodhod has published over 100 refereed articles in these areas.
Dr. Hodhod earned her Ph.D. degree from the University of York, UK. Between 2011 and 2013, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Adaptive Digital Media (ADAM) Lab within the Georgia Tech School of Literature, Media, and Communication. During her time there, she conducted research and contributed to the development of a computational model aimed at facilitating shared mental models in digital improvisation environments. She also played a key role in creating a novel context-based structural retrieval algorithm for cognitive scripts. In 2013, Dr. Hodhod transitioned to the Entertainment Intelligence Lab at the Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing, where her research focused on the procedural generation of computer game content, the management of commonsense knowledge bases, and the exploration of computational creativity. In 2014, Dr. Hodhod joined CSU, where she took on the role of teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, while also mentoring over 80 students in their research projects. She currently serves as Edwin and Florette Rothschild Chair in the Turner College of Business and Technology.
