Biography
Dr. Clayton Nicks is a Professor of Exercise Science and Chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Human Performance / Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to arriving at CSU, he was a collegiate cross-country / track and field coach and a professional in the corporate health and wellness industry. Dr. Nicks has taught several courses at CSU such as Exercise Physiology, Research Methods in Human Performance, Kinesiology, and others. His research has focused on respiratory muscle function, but his interests vary as he enjoys supporting student research interests. Recent publications are in journals such as European Journal of Sports Science, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, and Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Education and Exercise Science. He has served on numerous committees such as the Institutional Review Board, Facilities Master Plan Steering Committee, Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate, and many others. Dr. Nicks is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Southeastern Chapter of the ACSM, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.Academic Areas
