Admission Assessment for CSU’s School of Nursing
HESI RN Admission Assessment
This computer-based test, also known as HESI or A2, is timed at 3 1/2 hours, and covers math, reading, and grammar. Other parts of the test, such as vocabulary and the sciences, are not administered.
Eligibility: Current or prospective CSU students applying for admission to the School of Nursing.
Scores: A score report will be emailed to you. The School of Nursing has access to your scores and will advise you of passing scores.
Retesting: Students can take the test twice per calendar year with at least 6 weeks between attempts.
Test preparation: The nursing program recommends the Admission Assessment Study Guide, available through most bookstores.
Payment:
- For in-person testing at the CSU Testing Center:
- $105
- Note: Payment is made online when you schedule your appointment.
- For remote (online) testing by ProctorU:
- $145 (does not include the ProctorU fee)
- Note: If you schedule an appointment within 72 hours, ProctorU will charge you a late fee.
ID requirements: You must present an unexpired government-issued photo ID with signature--driver's license, passport, military ID, state ID. The first name and last name(s) on your identification must exactly match the first name and last name(s) on your CSU application.
Items needed for the test: We will provide you with scratch paper and pencil. Physical calculators are not permitted but a calculator is built into the test.

HESI RN-BSN Mobility Exam (for admission to CSU's online RN-BSN program. Call the Testing Center for information.)
Registered nurses applying for admission to the online RN-BSN completion program might be required to take this exam if their previous nursing program was not accredited by the NLN. This is a computer-based, 2-hour timed exam and no study guide will be provided. You may take the test a maximum of three times with at least 3 weeks between attempts.
