Nestled in Georgia's Chattahoochee River Valley, Columbus State University offers comprehensive learning opportunities to morethan 7,500 undergraduate and graduate students. With the recent completion of a $100 million capital campaign, CSU has renewed its vision of innovative, engaging learning environments, dedicated service to community and an uncompromising commitment to academic excellence at all levels.
At CSU, students experience an interactive learning environment where not just the stellar faculty, but also the staff, other students and community partners care about the education process. And this learning occurs not just in a classroom. Students learn in the field, in the lab, on the stage, with mentors in Fortune 500 boardrooms and in foreign countries.
CSU considers itself, above all else, a teaching university. Nationally distinguished programs in art, business, education, theatre and music, and stellar off-campus centers bolster our mission with rich learning opportunities. In spring 2007, CSU's departments of art and theatre moved into a new state-of-the-art complex along the Chattahoochee River, joining CSU's Schwob School of Music nearby to create a downtown fine and performing arts campus -- called CSU RiverPark -- that is unlike anything else in the country. The projectis another example of the university's extraordinarily strong community support in the historic city of Columbus, about 100 miles southwest of Atlanta.
A member of the University System of Georgia, CSU offers more than 50 undergraduate programs and more than 35 master's or specialist programs, ranging from art to pre-med. The excellence of the university also is available through a variety of online offerings, both for credit and not for credit, and an extensive continuing education program.
Rich learning opportunities and community experiences are available through the Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, the Rankin Arts Center and the RiverCenter, a state-of-the-art performing arts facility that houses three performance halls, a world-class organ and the university's widely respected school of music. Additional educational opportunities are available in our Honors Program, our heralded Servant Leadership Program and study abroad curriculum.
At CSU, students are expected to provide the effort, enthusiasm and determination to take the greatest advantage of the learning environment, the tools and technology, the opportunities, and the people who empower students to change their minds. Students will find challenges and inspiration, support and encouragement and life-changing experiences from not only a formal education, but also extracurricular activities, lifelong friends and an energetic college experience.
