Muscogiana Collection (MC 291)

Organizational Note

The Muscogee Genealogical Society, founded in 1976, serves all genealogists researching family records in the original Muscogee County. The counties formed from the original Muscogee County are Muscogee, Harris, Marion, Talbot & Chattahoochee Counties. The Society also includes news from the adjacent counties of Troup, Stewart, Upson, Webster and Meriwether in Georgia and Barbour, Chambers, Lee and Russell in Alabama.

The Society publishes the journal Muscogiana biannually which is issued in the Spring and Fall. Since, 1989, the Muscogee Genealogical Society has published material on all aspects of the original Muscogee County including compiled genealogies, case studies, instructional articles relating to new research methodologies, essays on local history, and unpublished primary source materials held in public, private and family archives.An index and table of contents are available.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of issues of Muscogiana as well as administrative files related to the publication of the journal.

Permission to Publish

Permission to publish material from the Muscogiana Collection (MC 291) must be obtained from the Columbus State University Archives at Columbus State University. Use of the following credit line for publication or exhibit is required:
