Scope and Content

This flyleaf of this scrapbook says, "Leo P. Swift. Books of pictures that were in the different papers after the blowing up of the battleship Maine, February 15-1898"The contents of the book consist of numerous newspaper and magazine clippings recounting the sinking of the battle ship Maine in the harbor of Havana, Cuba and the ensuing war between the United States and Spain. The clippings are mounted in an unused check ledger from the account of J. C. McClay on the Exchange of Apalachicola (Florida).1898 1 ledger book (.5 l.f.)
