Counseling Programs
Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MS)
This program is designed to meet the education requirements for the Georgia Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) license through the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists. We have determined our program curriculum does meet the state educational requirements for state licensure or certification in Georgia or Alabama. CSU has not made a determination as to whether this program meets the state educational requirements for state licensure or certification in any state other than Georgia or Alabama. Contact the NBCC state board in your state for licensure requirements.
This program is currently only approved to be offered to students who are physically present in Georgia or Alabama. Practicum or internship placements for this program may only be completed in Georgia.
Accreditation: Our Counseling programs are national accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP). Columbus State University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC)
School Counseling (MEd)
This program is designed to prepare students for state certification in School Counseling through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. We have determined our program curriculum does meet the state educational requirements for state licensure or certification in Georgia or Alabama. CSU has not made a determination as to whether this program meets the state educational requirements for state licensure or certification in any state other than Georgia or Alabama. Contact the NASDTEC state board in your state for licensure requirements.
This program is currently only approved to be offered to students who are physically present in Georgia or Alabama*. Practicum or internship placements for this program may only be completed in Georgia or Alabama.
* Alabama: The AL-DOE does not recognize online degrees for certification. An educator would need to become certified in GA and use the process of reciprocity to seek certification in AL. The GA certificate must be in an equivalent certification area/level as offered in AL. Contact the AL-DOE for additional information about school counselor certification.

Social Services Program
Sociology (B.S.) - Social Services Track
This program is not designed to meet any state licensure or certification requirements.
Columbus State University is currently approved or exempt from approval, and meets the regulatory requirements to offer this program to students who are physically present in all 50 U.S. states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. CSU cannot allow students in this program to participate in field placements in Colorado. Field placements include internships, clinicals, and practicums.
