The symposium was sponsored by the Continuing Education Division and the Department of Language and Literature of Columbus College in observation of the 20th anniversary of the death of Carson McCullers. It was supported by the Georgia Endowment for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the D. Abbot Turner Fund.
